GREENSBORO – The Greensboro Garage is now renting pedal-assisted electric bicycles. Joann LaCasse and her bike rental assistant Zhi Howes at the Greensboro Garage now rent out the bikes with a battery and motor that powers the rider at safe speeds and then allows the rider to pedal as well. Pedaling will provide extra power for going up hills.
The bikes and helmets can be rented seven days a week for short local trips or for extended (week-long) reservations.
Suggested local trips include around Caspian Lake on its circular road – gravel roads are no problem; to Greensboro Bend and back; to Craftsbury and back; to East Hardwick to pick up the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail to Hardwick (ending behind the Health Center) and back on Center Road. The more adventurous could transport an e-Bike to Danville and ride the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail to St. Johnsbury.
Bike reservations may be made in advance at 802-533-7007. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
LaCasse currently has three e-bikes, with more on order. She also rents three sizes of traditional bicycles: small, medium and large.
