Students at Woodbury Elementary School Help Ukranian Family

WOODBURY – The fifth-sixth grade at Woodbury Elementary School has been helping a Ukrainian family. When the students heard about the war in Ukraine, they wanted to help. After reaching out to an employee at the Ukrainian Research Institute at Harvard University, they learned that they could directly help a family of three by raising money for them.

The class came up with a plan: they would host bake sales and donate all the money earned. They called local businesses to see if they were willing to host the bake sales, they made signs, they baked, and they coordinated who would supervise each bake sale.

The first two bake sales have been held, and because of the generosity of the community of Hardwick, nearly $500 in donations was raised so far. All of this will go to this family of three in Ukraine. There is one more bake sale to come on Wednesday, April 13, outside of the Clip Joint Hair Salon in Hardwick.
