Local Candidates Run for Seats on Electric Co-op Board

EAST MONTPELIER – Susan Alexander of Cabot, Betsy Allen of Plainfield, and Steven Farnham of Plainfield are three of the seven candidates running for three seats on Washington Electric Cooperative’s (WEC) member-led board of directors.

Other candidates are Olivia Campbell Andersen of East Montpelier, Pat Barnes of Vershire, Rachel Onuf of Washington, and JJ Vandette of Middlesex. All WEC directors serve at-large. Election winners to be announced at central Vermont electric cooperative’s virtual Annual Meeting, May 5.

“I’m pleased that so many of our members are engaged and interested in helping lead the direction of their electric cooperative,” said WEC General Manager Louis Porter. “Our board grapples with issues like climate resilience, energy efficiency and rate equity. Our members have a healthy interest in these critical topics. I am grateful to all those stepping up to represent their fellow members, and I encourage all WEC members to vote in this important election.”

This year, voting will take place by mail. Each WEC member is mailed a ballot. WEC’s annual meeting, to be held virtually on Thursday, May 5 at 5 p.m. Members may register for the Annual Meeting on wec.coop.
