Baker Hired as OSSU Superintendent

HARDWICK – Dr. David Baker has been hired as the new superintendent of the Orleans Southwest Supervisory Union, as announced at the OSSU Elementary Board meeting on April 12.

Also announced were a new communication specialist, facilities director, and a food service director. A data manager position will be posted.

Parents at the meeting spoke about their concern with the co-ed sports program and how girls should play on their own teams. Tammi Smith, the athletic director, joined the meeting. She would like to see the co-ed programs go away. Ann Peltz suggested possibly inviting some coaches to the next meeting. Michelle Demers mentioned that she is a coach and other coaches have been in attendance. The board also informed parents that music programs will be brought back.

In a discussion on copier leasing, the board was informed that number of copiers would increase from 15 to 23 and the price would decrease about $ 3,000.

Ann Peltz reported on the principal search. The board will meet virtually to go further on this search.

The board went into executive session for negotiations with no action taken.

Adam Gann, Vince Razionale, Ann Peltz, Terri Vest, Tami Furry, board scribe. Administrators in attendance were Adam Rosenberg, Patrick Pennock, Lisa McCarthy,

David Martin, and others in attendance were Keira Gann, Mary-Kate Crum, Susanne Gann, Logan Gifford, Travis Hill, Emily Michaud, Ross Gouin, Jayme Lowell, Jessica Gouin, Michelle Demers.

The next meeting will be May 10, at the Woodbury School.
