Catamount Arts Traveling Stage Hosts 17 Free NEK Concerts

ST. JOHNSBURY/NEWPORT – A mobile stage secured by Catamount Arts in 2016 has quickly become such a summertime staple, the region’s premier full-service arts center had to get another one. This summer, the stage will bring six free shows to Newport’s Wednesdays on the Waterfront, three free shows to St. Johnsbury’s Final Fridays, and eight free shows to the Levitt AMP St. Johnsbury Music Series at Dog Mountain.

Newport’s Wednesdays on the Waterfront will bring the music of the Andes on July 13, with “Zuko & the Gang,” followed July 20 by “Strange Purple Jelly’s” soul jazz. Power trio “Rick Redington & the Luv” play on July 27, and then multi-genre masters the “Mike Goudreau Band” play August 3. The series closes August 10, with “Evansville Transit Authority’s” blend of rock, country, and blues. Wednesdays on the Waterfront concerts take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m., at the Waterfront Gazebo on Main Street in Newport.

The Levitt AMP St. Johnsbury Music Series returns this year with eight shows at Dog Mountain and three shows on Railroad Street. Three Railroad Street shows take place on the last Friday of June, July, and August as part of Final Fridays. All other Levitt AMP St. Johnsbury Music Series shows take place Sundays, July 10 through August 28, at Dog Mountain.

On Friday, June 24, Zach Nugent will perform on Railroad Street in St. Johnsbury. Friday, July 29, also on Railroad Street, folk rockers “Adam Ezra Group” will perform, and then on Friday, August 26, for alt-rockers “Fox Royale” are on the ticket. St. Johnsbury’s Railroad Street shows take place at 7p.m., following Final Fridays festivities (formerly #GetDownTown), which begin at 4 p.m.
