Structure Fire, Stolen Catalytic Converters

On May 3, at approximately 1438 hours, Hardwick Fire Department, Rescue Squad and Police Department responded to a garage structure fire, with occupants trapped within the adjacent residence, at 130 Hillside Street in Hardwick. Several local people helped the occupants out of the residence through a window. The garage was a total loss and there was significant fire and smoke damage to the adjacent residence.

The investigation revealed Travis Daigle, of Hardwick and a juvenile were setting off fireworks in the area, which sparked the fire. Travis Daigle was cited into Caledonia Superior Court on July 11 for the charges of Reckless Endangerment, Disorderly Conduct and Prohibitions on Fireworks. The juvenile’s case has been sent to the community Restorative Justice Center.

Two companies, Hardwick Electric and J Hutchins Inc., reported having catalytic converters stolen off their trucks.
