Card of Thanks

I am writing to say thank you to the hundreds of people who made Greensboro’s auction to benefit Save the Children’s Ukrainian Crisis Fund a huge success.

This year, the Greensboro Select Board agreed to make an auction supporting Ukraine a part of our Independence Day celebration. Between the sale of auction items and donations it now looks as though the final total of funds raised will be about $15,000. a remarkably generous summer resident of Greensboro, who has asked to remain anonymous, has also agreed to match those funds, thus bringing the total raised to about $30,000!

The funds raised will all go to Save the Children’s Ukrainian Crisis Fund. The need left by the horror, death and devastation being visited upon Ukraine by Putin’s invasion will require the help of every penny Save the Children and hundreds of similar organizations can raise for years to come, and hopefully Greensboro will continue to support their efforts. There are too many generous individual donors to thank everyone, but among those who worked above and beyond the call of duty are John Schweizer, Kim Greaves, Brett Stanciu, Ellen Celnik, Janet Long and Tim Nisbet.

A group of citizens continues to work on a Christmas concert with the Highland Center for the Arts to further support Save the Children’s work in Ukraine. It will be held December 18.
