Free Poetry Workshop and Author Talk on July 24
GREENSBORO – Teens and young adults interested in writing poetry will find advice from Vermont poets Ben Pease and Bianca Stone from the Ruth Stone House at a free workshop planned for Sunday, July 24, from noon to 1:30 p.m., at the Greensboro Free Library. Participants must pre-register this workshop by emailing the library at greensborofree@gmail.com and are invited to bring a bag lunch to enjoy under our backyard tent. The workshop will precede a 3 p.m. poetry reading by Bianca Stone and Sharon Olds at Highland Center for the Arts, an event in the Back Roads Readings series.
On Wednesday, July 27, at 4 p.m. the library will host author Janet Givens, reading from her new book “LEAPFROG: How to Hold a Civil Conversation in an Uncivil Era.” Janet is a psychotherapist and sociologist, a former Peace Corps volunteer, and a writer. She blogs at janetgivens.com. Her new e-book pulls wisdom from many corners on how to be heard, and how to hear others without judgment, and to move dialogue forward. LEAPFROG stands for Listening, Empathy, Assessment, Perspective, Facts, Respect, Observation, and Gratitude.
