“Know Your Housing Rights” on Aug. 3
MORRISVILLE – A workshop, “Know Your Rights: Fair Housing 101,” will be presented on Wednesday, Aug. 3, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at the Morristown Centennial Library as part of Lamoille Housing Partnership and the Working Community Challenge’s 2022 Housing Summit series.
For first-time renter or renters having trouble maintaining long-term housing, this workshop will help renters know their rights. The free educational workshop provides information and resources for future and current renters to attain lifelong housing success.
Presented by the Fair Housing Project of the Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity (CVOEO,) “Know Your Rights: Fair Housing 101” covers the history of the Fair Housing Act and the resulting protections under Federal and Vermont law, what to do if experiencing discrimination, and access requirements for people with disabilities, including reasonable accommodations and reasonable modifications. The interactive session includes a discussion of Vermont’s housing landscape and time for questions.
