DUI and Active Warrants

On July 27 in the evening, Hardwick Police received a complaint about a blue Subaru Outback having a possible intoxicated operator driving on Rte. 15 toward Hardwick. Officers were told the vehicle had been seen pulling into the Kwik Stop parking lot. The female driver was identified as Grace Hurley, of Wolcott. Officers observed signs of impairment and Hurley was taken into custody and processed for DUI. Hurley was issued a criminal citation to appear in Caledonia Superior Court on Sept. 19.

Based on information gathered by numerous sources, Hardwick Police obtained a search warrant to search the residence at 236 Evergreen Manor Dr. in Hardwick for James Patten. Patten had three active warrants at that time. On July 19, at 1730 hours, Hardwick Police officers went to the residence to execute the search warrant. Hardwick Police officers attempted to make contact by knocking and announcing multiple times. After failing to make contact, Hardwick Police entered the home by force and located Patten in his bedroom. Also in the house was Thomas Washburn. Patten was taken into custody without incident, brought back to the Hardwick Police Department and transported to Northeast Correctional Facility.

This report is based on information provided by the Hardwick Police Department but is not a full accounting of police activity. Persons named in this report are presumed to be innocent unless they plead or are found guilty in court.
