Board Deals with Chicken Complaint

WALDEN – The select board met on September 26, and received a petition to upgrade Weaks Place Road from Class 4 to Class 3. The board will schedule an inspection and hearing at the October 10 meeting.

The board reviewed the town’s personnel policies and procedures policy and after discussion the board voted to clarify the vacation time compensation language so that unused vacation time will be paid at the anniversary of hire automatically.

The Lamoille Valley Rail Trail access sites were discussed. The state has scheduled a site visit for October 6 at 9 a.m.

The fire department requested funding for high-visibility four-season jackets for the Fast Squad. The board approved $3,500 of ARPA funds to cover the cost.

Bob Hatch discussed the poor condition of Walden’s welcome signs on Route 15. He will look into volunteer help to repair them.

The constable and select board received a chicken complaint. The board determined that this is a neighbor problem that the board has no authority over.

Present at the meeting were Robert Hatch, Brenda Huntoon, Randolph Wilson, Robert Bell, Deborah Messier, Jeanie Anthes, Peter Anthes, Gladys Bertrand and David Bertrand. The next meeting is October 10 at 6:30 p.m.
