East Calais Store Renovations Begin

EAST CALAIS – The renovation of the East Calais Store building has begun. Efforts of volunteers, consultants, architect, local and statewide donors have resulted in the remodeling project with the three apartments above.

E. F. Wall serves as the construction manager and is on-site overseeing initial demolition. The first phase of renovation will be the removal of the non-historic garage on the front of the building. The entire interior of the building, store and apartments, will be gutted with new plumbing and electrical. The exterior of the building when complete will maintain its historical appearance with the addition of an ADA ramp for store access.
Jessica Conrad Quinn, who formerly operated a store and café in a small town in Maine, will operate the East Calais General Store once it is renovated and re-opened in summer 2023.
