Pie Makers

Family Pies Project volunteers Mosie Hill (left), Clara Lew-Smith (center) and Madelyn Emers (right), roll out dough for the pie crusts. They were joined by 17 other volunteers who together made 52 pies in the United Church dining room Sunday. They were then brought to the Hardwick Area Food Pantry for their Thanksgiving food boxes. The dough was made and donated by Charlie Emers of Patchwork Farm and Bakery.

Filling the pie crusts with apples and ingredients are Sarah Remick (front left) and Jennifer Fliegelman (front right). Fliegelman started the Family Pies Project in 2017. Michael Lew-Smith (back center) and Manny Fliegelman (second from right) wrap and label the finished pies. Twenty volunteers whipped up 52 pies that were donated to the Hardwick Area Food Pantry for their Thanksgiving boxes. The labels for the pies were made by the Hardwick Elementary Art Club. Other pie donations included 30 from Sterling College and 88 by home bakers.
