Art, Food, Music, Community Storytelling on Feb. 4

HARDWICK – Edwin Owusu will host a free performance and storytelling event on Saturday, Feb. 4, at noon in the Hazen Union auditorium. The event will explore the past to inform the future as a community.

Adults and high school students may come for an hour or stay for the afternoon, and are encouraged to explore the following lineup or come to any portion of the afternoon that meets their interests.

The event will begin at noon with introductions and welcome by Edwin Owusu, followed by hip-hop artist Jordan Farmer at 12:15. Marion Hyde, the Vermont Prof of Color will make a presentation at 12:25 p.m., followed by comedian Omega Jade at 1 p.m. Juni the Wiccan will present hip-hop at 1:30 p.m. From 2 to 3 p.m., there will be intermission and food vendors available.

A panel discussion will follow at 3 p.m. with Saudia LaMont, congressional representative, Isaac Osusu of the Vermont Racial Justice Alliance, and Justin Morgan-Parmett, UVM Director of Forensics. Comedian King Mecca performs at 3:45 p.m., followed by Abizo, Congolese Aftrobeats artist, and A2VT Afrobeats performers at 4:30 p.m.
