NORTHFIELD – The Twinfield-Cabot-Danville softball team built momentum with a dominant win over Northfield last week, but joined a growing list of Division IV opponents who have yet to solve powerhouse Blue Mountain this spring.
Aydyn Paige drove in a pair of runs and went 2-4 on the day to lead the Lady Trojans to a 32-5 road win over Northfield last Tuesday. Aleacya Moshinskie went 3-3 with a walk, Ella Marshia added a pair of hits and drew four walks, and Kendall Hale struck out 6 to earn the win in the circle. Marshia and Hale lead a handful of Danville players who are on the Lady Trojan roster this spring, helping them to a 3-5 record on the season. Mya Sanders surrendered 14 free passes in suffering the loss as the Lady Marauders continue to search for their first win of the season.
“The girls did a good job of getting on base early with good at bats, giving us a big lead after the first inning. We played solidly defensively, making some nice plays in the infield and outfield to hold down any big rallies from Northfield,” said co-head coach Christin Martin.
Jade Lamarre was a perfect 4-4 at the plate, including a two run double to lead Blue Mountain to a 27-6 road win over Twinfield-Cabot-Danville on Thursday. Felicity Sulham belted a double and drove in five runs, and Karli Blood and Lauren Joy combined for four more hits and three RBIs to lead a balanced Lady Buck offensive attack. Aydyn Paige kept a hot bat, driving in two runs on a pair of hits, Moshinskie belted a double, Marshia went 2-4, and Sophia Mancini drove in a run on two hits in the loss. Maddi Duke suffered the loss in the circle for the Lady Trojans, striking out 5 and walking 14 on the day. Blue Mountain has won seven straight games, outscoring their opponents 178-16 along the way. The six runs they gave up to Twinfield-Cabot-Danville was the most they had given up in a month.

“Our girls had better success hitting this time around against them and made some smart base running decisions. It was a much better showing than our first game against them earlier in the season and we’ll take some positives away from this game. We had a few costly defensive errors that led to some runs, but overall we are getting closer to playing some heads-up defense as a team,” said Martin.
The Lady Trojan junior varsity team was able to get their first game of the season in last Monday, dropping an 18-7 home decision to Division I North Country.
“Tasa Howe played a phenomenal game for us, catching the first few innings, finishing up the game at second base, and making some great defensive plays,” said Martin.
The Lady Trojans welcomed Peoples Academy to town on Tuesday, will host Williamstown on Friday, and stay at home for a Mountain League matchup against rival Craftsbury Academy on Saturday afternoon. The JV squad is scheduled to travel to Montpelier on Wednesday.
