Hardwick Police Report
On July 22, at approximately 12:24 p.m., the Hardwick Police Department and Hardwick Rescue responded to a 911 call reporting a motor vehicle collision on East Church Street. The operator, Michael Beauregard of Walden, was traveling northeast bound on East Church Street in a 2008 Subaru Outback when he went off the right side of the roadway and crashed into Jayson Hall’s, of Hardwick, 2003 GMC Envoy parked in the driveway of 244 East Church St. Beauregard was transported to Copley Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
On July 24, at approximately 3:10 p.m., the Hardwick Police responded to Center Road in Hardwick near the Greensboro town line for a report of a truck vs. bear. Upon arrival, police spoke with Robert Coates, of Hardwick, who was operating a 2019 Nissan Frontier. Coates advised a bear ran out in front of him causing him to hit the bear The bear then took off into the woods. The truck’s airbags were deployed and there was minor front-end damage.
On July 24, at approximately 3:26 p.m., the Hardwick Police spoke to Desiree Martin, of Hardwick, about a phone scam. Martin advised someone called her and had a lot of information about her and claimed she owed money. Martin was able to determine it was a phone scam and no money transaction took place.
On the morning of July 26, the caretaker of the Fairview Cemetery on Glenside Ave., reported damage to the lawn and trash left behind. The caretaker found where a vehicle had driven around the cemetery and then into the main drive ditch. The vehicle appeared to have gotten stuck and spun its four tires to get out of the mud. It appeared to be a full-sized vehicle based on the wheelbase. It appeared the front bumper of the vehicle dug into the bank pushing sod up towards the driveway. The caretaker reported there is often traffic into the cemetery at night and, as he explained, it has to do with drug usage and drug dealing. On July 28, at approximately 7:50 p.m. Hardwick Police responded to the storage units located on Vt. Rte. 14 S for a report of stolen tools. It was reported that a Craftsman lathe and a large antique circular saw blade were stolen from the unit. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Hardwick Police Department.
