Shakespeare Theater Camp Presents Comedy on August 11, August 12

An exhibit at the J.W. Simpson Memorial Library of vintage costumes, cast lists, and footage from a 1928 performance of the East Hill Players, and T-shifts from the “Get Thee to The Funnery” theater camp runs in conjunction with the Funnery camp performances in Greensboro and at Craftsbury Common.
GREENSBORO – This week, 32 young actors (12 to 18 years old) are memorizing lines and getting ready to perform two weekend performances of Shakespeare’s comedy “Twelfth Night,” in the 25th year of Get Thee to The Funnery theater camp.
The Funnery takes place under the big tent at Highland Center for the Arts on Friday, August 11, at 5:30 p.m., and Saturday, August 12, following the Old Home Day parade on Craftsbury Common, at 2 p.m., in the formal gardens at Sterling College.
Just down the road, an exhibit is taking shape at the John Woodruff Simpson Memorial Library in East Craftsbury, where Jean Simpson founded the East Hill Players in 1923, and went on to gather teens and adults each summer to perform Shakespeare for the next fifty years. The exhibit includes vintage costumes, cast lists, footage of the East Hill players performing “Romeo and Juliet” in 1928, and an array of T-shirts from the Funnery archives.
