Hundreds of Fairies Gather at Highland Center for the Arts
A large crowd attended the Second Annual Fairy Festival that was organized and sponsored by the Highland Center for the Arts, August 5.

GREENSBORO – While many have suspected that the highlands of Greensboro are often visited by fairies and gnomes, especially in the summer, few people had any idea how many would be gathering at the Highland Center for the Arts on Saturday, Aug. 5. Hundreds of fairies came from miles around for the festivities. They were joined by wizards, a mermaid, unicorns, and a fairy princess. The Fairy Queen came riding what many have said is the most beautiful unicorn in Vermont. While the Fairy Queen has several unicorns, she came to the festival riding her unicorn named Pearl.

Despite one of the rainiest summers in memory, the fairies worked their magic and celebrated under crystal blue skies and the warm winds of a Greensboro August. It was not unusual to hear some of the young fairies exclaim in awe, at the sight of the Fairy Queen, “There she is—in real life!” Especially popular among the youngest fairies was a pony, who came with a fairy princess, and was named after her ancient aunt, Snow White.
For young fairies who are still learning to fly the festival was an exercise in Continuing Fairy Education, where they were able to receive flying lessons. Many also learned to make their own wands, and, particularly important, learned to make potions for all good purposes. Witches were not allowed to attend. There was so much fun and learning to be had that the Fairy Queen announced that the fairies, wizards, gnomes, pixies and others will be holding their next magical festival in Greensboro at the Highland Center for the Arts again next summer. It was the consensus among all that this was one of the best fairy festivals ever!
