Hardwick Trails to Celebrate 20 Years of Recreation

Hardwick Trails will celebrate 20 years of recreation on September 9.
HARDWICK – The public is invited to many events to celebrate 20 years of recreation on the Hardwick Trails, on Saturday, Sept. 9, 9 a.m. to noon.
The trails are a no-fee community trails system open year-round with over 10 miles of free trails for non-motorized use. Community volunteers and donors provide the muscle and means to care for recreation on the trails, that is groomed for winter skiing and mowed for summer use.
Part of the celebration will include the double track, six miles of wide, maintained open to the public and the single track, five miles of biking trails, winding through mixed woodland habitats and open to the public.
The day will also include prizes on the Marlene Clark Fitness Course, with all levels encouraged, hosted by the Clark family; two group rides for beginners and intermediates on the single track; a story walk with guided reading featuring “The Cat in the Hat” and “Thing 1 and Thing 2;” fairy house building in the woods with supplies to be gathered and houses built on site; a guided plant walk with Naturalist Erin Rosenthel with a focus on medicinal properties of plants and fungus; a poetry walk featuring Vermont students and published poets; and Adaptive Sports Partners on site to provide instructions, equipment and guides on grass and earthen trails.
