Hardwick Police Report
Sometime between 8 p.m. on September 23, and 7 p.m. on September 24, an apartment was burglarized on High St. Entry into and exit from the apartment was through an unlocked downstairs rear window. A substantial amount of cash and change was stolen.
On September 26, at 11:02 a.m., Hardwick Police responded to a single vehicle crash on Vt. Rte. 14 S on Bridge No. 96 in the town of Hardwick. Robert Norway, of Barre was traveling northbound on Rte. 14S. in his 2020 Ford F-250 pulling a boat trailer. Norway dozed off and hit the metal guard railing of the northbound lane at Bridge No. 96. The vehicle was disabled and had to be removed by a wrecker. There were no reported injuries. Norway was issued a warning for failing to maintain his lane of travel.
On September 26, Greg Lussier reported one of his company trucks was stolen sometime throughout the night from his residence on Craftsbury Road in Hardwick. Greg owns Greg Lussier Barn Builders. The truck is a 2019 Ford F-350, blue cab, aluminum dump body with wooden stake sides bearing Vermont registration 364A609. It was towing a 14K Belmont Flatbed trailer bearing Vermont registration AWF968. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Hardwick Police Department.
On September 29, at 3:48 p.m., the Hardwick Police Department was dispatched to the scene of a motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival there was a single vehicle off the south side of Vt. Rte. 15 with front end damage due to a collision with the bank adjacent to the roadway. The vehicle was perpendicular to Rte. 15 and in line with Vt. Rte. 16.
The driver, and only occupant, who was still behind the wheel of her still running SUV, was identified as 65-year-old Connie L. Holmes of E. Hardwick. After displaying several indications of alcohol intoxication, Holmes was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI. She was subsequently issued a citation to appear in Caledonia Superior Court, on October 30, for DUI, second offense.
On July 25, Logan Ballard, of Woodbury, wrote a check at the Yummy Wok for $100. The check was written on a closed account belonging to someone else. The video showed her writing and signing the check. She has been charged with Forgery and False Token and cited into Caledonia Superior Court on October 16.
On September 28 Hardwick Police responded to the parking lot at Northern Counties Dental Care for a report of a two-vehicle crash. Upon arrival the Hardwick Police learned that a female later identified as Georgia Allen, of Hardwick, backed her car out of a parking spot and struck a parked vehicle owned by Crystal Whitcomb, of Hardwick. There was minor damage to the front driver’s side of Allen’s car and rear passenger on Whitcomb’s vehicle.
