Leesa Fine was a long-time library user whose family chose to honor her by working with the library to design a reading room and donating it in her memory. Kingdom Construction, Inc. of Newport is the general contractor for the project, which began in November.

This year’s holiday project was unlike any other year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Families gave their wish lists to the project organizers and a crew of four people filled the boxes. Each family came by appointment and picked up their box on the porch outside of Lottie and Perley Allen’s home in Hardwick. Seventy-eight families, which included 210 children, were gifted.

The couple also greeted children from their porch Saturday, Dec. 19 from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 20 from 6-8 p.m. and will do so again on Wednesday, Dec. 23 from 6-8 p.m.
